Last night, as I finished this book, I contemplated never reading another horror book before bedtime again. No, not in a negative way, but quite the opposite, since this book did exactly what I expect from a horror book: scare the everliving crap out of me. I don't know if it was the talk of witches crammed inside fireplaces or the haunting prose; either way, it worked. I'll give it to you, Daisy Pearce, you scared me good, and that's something that doesn't happen often. The last time I got almost scared out of reading was by The Exorcist a few years back. And to be on par with that is an achievement every writer could be proud of!

This book felt like dark corners and creeping shadows. A whisper in your ear when no one is around. Goosebumps for no reason. 5/5 spooky stars no doubt!
