The Stitch Witches shows a side of witch-induced panic in the times after the Salem Witch Trials that is rarely shown. Not only does it focus on the "god-fearing" Puritans in their villages, but also on the slaves they owned and their unjust treatment within that community. I don't think I've ever read a witch trial book that took this horrendous history into the equation, and I'm grateful that Krissie K. Williams shows readers truly how hypocritical these Puritans were.
What bothered me about the book was that the actual Stitch Witches weren't a big part of the story. Sure, they were mentioned, and they did pop up a few times in the story, but I would have liked for them to make more appearances throughout the book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy.
