The Auctioneer: A Review

2 /5 Stars

It's important to remember that The Auctioneer was first published in 1975, and is surely outdated in both ideas and laws around the United States.

The reason why I picked it up was because it's part of Grady Hendrix's Paperbacks from Hell, and the synopsis sounded interesting enough.

Sadly, I didn't find the amazing horror/thriller I was looking for. Instead, I found a story that started out realistic enough, but soon turned into a ridiculous mess. None of the things that happened were believable, and there is no way an entire village stood by while some dude from the big city would rob them of everything they own.

I know the author died shortly after this book was first published, so of course this is all said with due respect. I just couldn't relate to this book, and while the idea behind it was a good one, the execution lacked realism
